Tidy Your Bank!

If you’ve not got a tidy bank, you could be wasting a lot of time looking for items in it, or you could be regularly running out of space. But fear not! As well as showing you my bank (don’t laugh!) I’m going to point out some key DOs and DON’Ts for sane banking in Runescape Smiling

On the right hand side, you’ll see an image of what my bank looks like at the time of writing. It’s not perfect by any means (there’s not enough money in it, for a start!), but I do try to keep it as well organised as possible. An organised bank helps me to find stuff quickly, and to weed out the things I don’t need anymore.

So - the golden rules, and major pitfalls are:

DOs…

  • Group items by use. For example, magic, ranging, melee, clothing, farming, herblore, crafting, etc.
  • Place items you always keep in stock, and items you don’t use often higher up in your bank. This might include currency, runes, herbs, ores, construction materials, and so on.
  • Keep the items you use regularly at the bottom of your bank. This includes weapons and armour, items for current quests, clothing, etc. Nearer the bottom, these items are easier to move around and keep organised when you’re removing and replacing them.
  • For items that you use regularly, try and get 2 or more. This means the spare always keeps the place in the bank. Obviously this isn’t always possible for dragon or barrows items (!), but it’s very handy for tools, bows and staves.
  • Get a house and a costume room! Player-owned houses allow you to store a lot of armour and clothing in their costume rooms. It’ll be well worth you levelling up and building a costume room. Once you’ve got a costume room, buy some high-level flat-packed storage furniture from another player with high-level construction. The highest level furniture can store tons of useful things for you.
  • Do the One Small Favour Quest. This will get you a nifty keyring that’ll let you keep lots of keys in just one space.
  • Use “Insert” mode. It may be obvious to some, but setting “Re-arrange Mode” to “Insert” is much better for shuffling your items around.

DON’Ts…

  • Don’t hang on to old quest items. Most quest items can be picked up again for free, or for small amounts of money. Do double-check this, but on the whole, small quest items can be safely ditched.
  • Don’t keep things which are easy to get. Examples include low level herbs and seeds (guam, potato, onion, etc). Once you’re not using them regularly, there’s no point in keeping them.
  • Don’t have lots of potions in 1s and 2s. Combine them to 4s (for personal use) and 3s (for selling. Ideally, you’d keep them all as 3s and combine them up to 4s when you need to - this is the way I’m going.
